Týr’s music is rooted in Scandinavian songs and tradition, with progressive and power metal influences. However with their latest album, By the Light of the Northern Star, these progressive elements have been toned down to offer shorter catchy numbers. Also unlike previous albums the vocals are almost entirely in English, which is disappointing as their native Faroese has an appeal all of its own.
